Description of Speech Day. The guest speaker was Dr Knox, Bishop of Manchester. He commented on the growth of schools and teachers to replace education by governesses. Also comments made on the removal to new premises of Pendleton High School, the increase in the numbers of pupils, the possibility of establishing links with local primary schools and the establishment of a pension fund for teachers. Miss Burstall commented on the importance of women teachers and the breakdown of parental authority.
