Mabel Hurford went to teach in the American school and a teacher from there, Miss Cecile McInnes came to Manchester High School. Miss McInnes commented on the differences in finances between the schools, music, school hours, teachers, administration and the absence of school uniforms at the Commercial High School.

Miss Clarke commented on the lack of time for reflection and of the power of selection for the modern child and the need to raise the school leaving age to 18 or 19 years old. The Mayor of Manchester commented that there were many opportunities for voluntary work for girls who "were not going in for careers."

Description of Speech Day. The guest speaker was Councillor Norton Barclay, Mayor of Manchester. He commented on the need for girls to "turn your thoughts to civic duties." Miss Clarke commented on the large number of organisations which were offering to help schools and the difficulties of selection this was causing, the need to raise the school leaving age to 18 or 19, the importance of the sixth form and the difficulties which women had in finding jobs in a time of unemployment.
F Padmore commented on the inspection of the school for the first time since 1919 and the possibility that the school would be relocated into the suburbs.
