Report

Numbers are increasing. Thanks to the managers of St Aiden's Presbyterian Church, the governors of Withington School and Mr Behrens for their help with accommodation.

 

Founders' Day was held in the Whitworth Hall and the speaker was Alderman Wright Robinson.

Speech Day was held for the first time in the Albert Hall and the speaker was Mrs Stocks, the Principal of Westfield College.

Details given of academic successes.

Attempts to economise on heating were counter productive as the health of staff and pupils suffered.

Games continued to be played at Fogg Lane. Details given of sporting activities. Thanks to Miss Langton, Margaret Crawford and Miss Pettigrew for their help with the guides' activities [details given].

For five weeks in October and November the girls helped with potato picking "on municipal fields."

There has been an increase in music staff to cope with the increase in the activities of the music department [details given].

There were lectures [details given] by Prof Ritchie, M Derome and others [unnamed].

A meeting of the Manchester branch of the Old Girls' Federation was held at which the President, Mrs Hope presented Miss Clarke with academic robes as a token of her impending honorary degree.

 

The parents of Nora Cutter gave the school two armchairs for the Prefects' Room in memory of Nora.

Mr H Stevenson, the father of Marjorie Stevenson and Doreen Stevenson gave a silver cup in memory of his wife.
