It is not known how the new Education Act will affect Direct Grant schools.

 

Regret at the resignations from the governing body of Prof Fleure, Councillor Kershaw and Mrs T Young.

 

The speakers on Founders' Day and Speech Day were Dr Padmore and Mr L Behrens respectively.

 

The school is full. Thanks to Mr and Mrs L Behrens, the managers of St Aiden's Church, the authorities of Manchester university, the Moorland Road Tennis Club  and the governors of Withington school for their help with accommodation.

Details give of school activities including guides under the leadership of Miss Pettigrew, a harvest camp led by Miss Avis, potato lifting and a youth hostel visit to the Lake District.

Details given of fund raising and other community activities. The school has made a special aim the helping of children in liberated countries, eg Greece and France.

A parents' meeting was held.

There were an Old Girls' Federation meetings in honour of Miss Harrison and Miss Mellor.
