Report

The war has ended. There are plans to build a new school. There is a newly appointed Headmistress, Miss Bozman.

 

Regret at the resignation of Prof Jacob and Miss Knott and at the death of Mr Fairfoull. Welcome to the governing body to Judge Batt, Mrs Birley, R H Herford, Mr Wellesley and Mr Francis Willink.

Thanks to Dr Arscott for inviting girls to attend a dance and an "operatic performance" at Whalley Range School.

The school orchestra gave a concert for 200 primary school pupils in Salford. A harvest camp was held. Details given of other community  activities.

Gifts were sent to China, France, Greece, Holland and the Channel Isles and £500 has been raised for the children of liberated countries.

 

The speakers on Founders' Day and Speech Day were Dr Myers and Lady Bragg. Thanks to the managers of St Aiden?s Church, the authorities of Manchester University, the governors of Withington School and Mr and Mrs Behrens for their help with accommodation. 

Thanks to Mrs Rutherstone and the City Art Gallery for their loans of paintings.
