Regret at the deaths of George VI, Dr Catherine Chisholm, Miss H Sargisson and Dr F Padmore.

 

The rebuilding of the school was completed in 1952 and a service of dedication was held on Founders' Day. J Wilson, Dean of Manchester presided and the Mayor of Manchester was present. An Open Afternoon was held for parents, a Parent-Teacher Association and an Old Girls' Federation dance was held and a special issue of the magazine was published.

Speech Day was again held at the Free Trade Hall which has now been rebuilt after its destruction in the war. The guest was Dame Evelyn Sharp. Summary of the theme of her speech given. Miss Harrison attended Founders' Day.

In accordance with the spirit of the new exam reforms, girls took GCE O Levels in the minimum number of subjects which they needed to fulfil their entrance requirements for further training.
