A Christmas soiree was held with drama, dancing and music.
At Miss Day's suggestion, during the Christmas holidays girls made various handicrafts, hundreds were put on display and then there were given to children in local hospitals.
The following have been successful in the Cambridge Local Exams [details given]: A. Tonge, M. Headridge, G. Holt, A Beard, F Ewan, E Pugh, A Truscott, A Wackrill, E Evans, E Lanyon, C Newton, E Reynolds, M Stenhouse, M Travis, M Whittaker, M Winlaw.
G Holt received the Lady Goldsmid prize for achieving the second highest mark among girls for maths. The prize has been won by girls from Manchester High School for five successive years.
Miss Wilkins has married.
Miss Bulley has given up teaching.
Miss Turnball will leave after her appointment as head of Plymouth High School.
M. H. S. Debating Society
A Debating Society has been founded and held its first meeting on 5 March. The following were elected:

Membership is open to girls from the Lower V upwards.

Daily Reading Club
