Old Girls' Association
A meeting was attended by 150 members and chaired by Janie Beggs.
A discussion was held about how the Association�s money should be spent. Comments were made by the following: Maud Allison, Annie Beard, Mrs Corbett, Emma Harrison, Hannah Lupton, Fanny Leach, Edith Wilkinson, Janie Worthington, Maggie Wroe, Frances Bowring, Lottie Wroe, Lilian Leach.
A decision was made to set up the Children's Holiday Fund to be organised by a Committee consisting of Fanny Leach, Maud Allison, Annie Beard, Maggie Wroe, Mrs William Eaton, Rose Harland, Bessie Harrison, Maud Kelly.
The evening ended with a performance of a French play by the Seniors and the VI form.
Debating Society
Debate held: "The poet exercises an equally beneficial influence in the State with the legislator." Proposed by Annie Truscott, opposed by Elsie Windsor. Other speakers were Edith Johnstone, Miss Hodgkinson, Miss Adamson, Margaret Taylor, Miss Eves, Maud Vernon, Madeline Mellin, Effie Bullock, Alice Cooke, Agnes Coombes, Miss McCroben, Edith Brayshaw, Maud Allison, May Burnett. Motion defeated.
Tennis Club
The tennis club has been re-established and has 50 members.
Marriages
The marriages of the following have been announced: Augusta Melland, Laura Walley, Lilian Child.
The Botanical Club
The name has been changed to the Rambling Club. A walk from Marple to Disley was enjoyed by 15 members.
Magazine Committee
The Junior members are Nettie Schlesinger, Gertrude Russell.
Correspondence

Letter suggesting that classes in school should be required to make contributions to the magazine and that more letters should be printed. The Editor replied that compulsion was not practicable and that letters were not popular with readers.
Lazy Kwasind [sic]
Letter concerning the article, All Sorts and Conditions of Girls by Sappho which appeared in the March 1888 edition. The correspondent complains that the definition of a domesticated girl was too narrow and that a truly domesticated girl is a companion to her father and brothers and a help to other members of the family.
