Degree Day at the London University
Description of the presentation of degrees at "the Imperial Institute". Among the recipients was Miss Winifred Slater, the school's Classics teacher who received an MA in Classics and a gold medal. They were presented to her by one of the school governors [unnamed] who was one of her examiners.

The Gymnastic Competition
Description of the competition against St Margaret's Institute, Bowden which was won by Manchester High School. "Both sides were drilled by Miss May." The judge was Miss Thomas.
Golden Rule Society
Description of the activities of the Society which have been "very satisfactory." A new branch of the Society has been begun in which girls visit the sick, eg a lady of 85 [details given]. One of the governors has offered a prize for an essay on "The Golden Rule as applied to politics." [See Magazine for November 1900].
Manchester and Salford Ladies' Patriotic Association Work
Description of the work of the girls and others in making articles of clothing for British soldiers in S Africa. The committee is chaired by the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Briggs. The school sewing was directed by Miss Duffield. Money was collected and the letter from Robert Montgomery at a bank is quoted.
The O G A Easter Meeting
Description of the Old Girls' Association meeting. The President is Mrs Scott. It was attended by Elizabeth Day. Miss A Crompton gave a talk on "her work in the slums." A musical play was performed by the following: Mrs Scott, E Jones, E Wilkinson, L Wihl, S Eccles, B Wilce.

Description of a visit to the library, the first school to be invited to visit it. Included a talk by the librarian, Mr Guppy.
Junior School Open Afternoon
The Open Afternoon was timed to coincide with the Conference of the British Child Study Association in Manchester. Among those present were "distinguished educationalists" including Mrs Hopkinson and her daughters, Miss Gaskell, Mrs Worthington, Mr J Mather, Prof Tout, Miss Herford, Mrs Charles Lees and her daughters, Mr Langdon Down, Mrs Langdon Down, Dr Shuttleworth.
The visitors saw lessons [details given] led by the following: Miss F W Harrison, Miss Mitchell, Miss Coignou, Miss Edith Drummond, Miss Moakes, Miss Hartley, Miss Adamson, Miss May.
There were displays [details given] but much of the display material had been sent to Paris as part of the English Education Exhibition. [see Magazine for February 1900].
The Missionary Loan Exhibition
Description of the Chinese and Palestinian displays at the exhibition [details given]. The Chinese exhibit was explained by Mrs Piercy a guide at the exhibition.
