Editorial
Speech Day will be held on 28 July and the guest speaker will be Dr Michael Sadler, one of the Professors in the new Department of Education at Owens College.
The Head of Department, Dr J Findlay will be coming to the school to oversee the work of the students who will be training in the practical side of teaching in the school. "Training is now compulsory for secondary teachers who wish to be registered as well as for primary teachers and the Governors have applied for this school to be recognised by the Board of Education for graduate student teachers."

Description of the school gymnastic competition including the exercises and the teams. It was judged by Mr Bonner, a gymnast. The winning team was Nellie Hallam, Edna Byrom, Madge Brierley, Bessie Earnshaw, Hilda Davies, Pattie Heap, Connie Dove.
The Dixon Cup was won by Evelyne [sic] Cooper, the runners up in the "Champions Eight" were [marks given] Winifred Young, Nellie Hallam, Ethel Magnus, Lilian Guppy, Edna Byrom, Margaret Cannan, Bessie Earnshaw.
The winner and runner up in the Junior section were Annie Schultz, Dolly Fletcher.

The May Show
Description of the May flower show. The flowers were later given to the Infirmary, the Southern Hospital, the Children's Hospital and the Nurses' Home at Ardwick.
Old Girls' "At Home", 26 June
Description of a social evening which was held instead of the usual picnic. Music was provided by Mrs Scott, Mrs Frischmann, Annie Worsley, Rita Ashworth.
Miss Burstall gave a talk on "some of the pressing questions of the day affecting women."
Toy Competition

Literary Competition
Miss Pollard offers a prize for an essay on Kindness to Animals.
Tennis League
Description of the matches played in the Ninth Annual Tournament of the Lancashire Girls' Lawn Tennis League which the school has won four times.
The tennis champions were Mattie Shepherd, Muriel Huxley but Muriel Huxley was unable to play and her place was taken by Dora Bauerkeller.
The school was defeated in the second round by Whalley Range School.

Books, toys and clothes have been taken to Ardwick. Flowers have been taken from classrooms and sent to Ardwick every weekend.
School Concert
The performers at the concert were pupils of Mrs Byron Cooper, Miss Webster, Miss MacGowan.
A scene from The Rivals was also performed.
Housewifery Exhibition
"Specimens of cookery [from soups to puff pastry], laundry work, burnished pans and washed pottery and many specimens of needlework required in a household such as blind-making, darning, mending of fur etc" were displayed. The cookery prize was awarded to Marie Burton. The prize for the best decorated dinner table was won by Evelyne Cooper.

The Manchester Industrial Schools. The New Authority. The Question of After Care
Paper on the educational provision for less able children read at the annual meeting of the Manchester Industrial Schools. School Boards will no longer be responsible for the schools as they will come under the aegis of the new Local Education Authorities. Details given of the backgrounds of some of the children in the Industrial Schools. Explanation of the need for more government funding. The mayor, Mr Royle, who presided, said that it is important for provision to be made for boys after the age of 16. Mr E J Broadfield described the situation of the Schools as they will be transferred to the new authority, including the numbers of children who have been educated in them and the funding they have had. Canon Nunn urged the need for better housing as most of the boys come from the slums. Miss Dendy said that there was little adequate provision for "feeble-minded children" A resolution that the government should be asked for more funding was moved by James Hall and seconded by Mr Meadowcroft
