Editorial
As a result of the 1902 Education Act, the school will receive £300 pa. The Old Girls' Association gave a gift on Founders' Day [see below] and will provide money for a scholarship [see below]. It is hoped that the new scholarship system provided by the Education Committee will assist able girls in coming to the school. Dr Findlay, the new Professor of Education has been giving demonstration lessons in the school. Miss Burstall is giving lectures on the curriculum at the university.

Founders' Day
Dr Lamb, chair of the governors, said that the school was originally an experiment and is now an institution.
Mr Paton, High Master of Manchester Grammar School urged pupils to make full use of their minds.
On the following day, old girls attended lessons and one of them, Miss Hiles presented the school with an etching of a picture [details given]. There was then a concert in which the following performed: Annie Worsley, Mrs Frischmann, Josephine Horkheimer.

Museum Notes
Two large oak cases have been bought from the Trustees of Wordsworth's cottage at Grasmere which will be used for specimens. Marie Jones has given a large collection of ores and minerals from Africa. The Manchester Museum has given a cock and a pheasant. A Children's Natural History Club has been set up for the Junior School.

Literary Society
There are about 30 members and others are invited to join. At a meeting the reading of Stafford by Browning was completed [see magazine for December 1903]. Extracts from the essays of R L Stevenson were read by Miss Leach and Miss Drummond and papers about his work were read by the following girls: Jennie McClymont, Mabel Byrom, Elsie Simon.

At the committee meeting Mabel Huxley succeeded Lucy Wihl as Secretary and Treasurer of the Children�s Holiday Fund. Grace Wigglesworth succeeded Ethel Greengrass as Secretary of the Association.
Old Girls' Association Christmas Meeting
It was decided that after 3 years membership an old girl could become a life member on payment of 21s.
"It was proposed that the Association should have a Foundation Day Fund, part of which should be put aside to found a Scholarship and the other part to be spent in buying a picture or some present for the school. The disposition of the fund was finally left to the committee."

The Old Girls' Scholarship
"It is proposed that, in celebration of our Foundation Day, the Association shall give a yearly scholarship in either IV, Upper or VA. Circulars stating the conditions of which the scholarship will be given are being sent as far as possible to all girls who have passed through the school and they are being asked for a yearly subscription, however small, to help in maintaining the scholarship."
