Annual Meeting in the Free Trade Hall
Dr Lamb, the chairman of the governors, referred to the new biology lab, the renewed grant of £300 from Manchester Corporation, the inspection, the retirement of Miss Butcher and the closure of North Manchester High School.
Miss Burstall stressed the close relations between the school and Manchester University.
Miss Patterson, Head of North Manchester, stressed the importance of play as well as work.
Miss Butcher expressed regret at her retirement.
Dr Alfred Hopkinson, Vice-Chancellor of Manchester University, said that �success was very often getting something that someone else deserved much better.�
Mr Tatham proposed a vote of thanks and Canon Hicks seconded it.

The Horticultural Show

The Literary Society
The Society is flourishing. At meetings the poems of Longfellow and papers were read by Edith Wheeler on the paintings of Rosetti and by Greta Elias on his poems. A debate was held on which six books to take to a desert island.

A German Society has been set up. The committee members are:
