The New School Gardens
"The Garden is situated in the angle formed by the junction of Denison Road with the Conyngham Road in Victoria Park; on the north side of the former road and on the south west side of the latter, the entrance being on Denison Road. It is of very considerable extent. At present there are some 15 beds arranged in parallel lines, those at the north east end being about 17ft 6 in long and tapering down to 6 ft long at the south east end; each of these being about 4ft wide with a pathway of 2 ft between them. There are also six beds of 12ft 6 in x 4ft 9in against the southern wall of Conyngham Villa and in these some creepers have already been planted and are now giving an air of culture to the garden."
The flower beds have been assigned to the care of different forms. Miss Coignou hopes to identify the plants. The school is indebted to Mrs Rose Hyland for the land and to the boys of Manchester Grammar School for doing the heavy work.
