Report on the Annual Gymnastic Competitions
Report by the judge who is a member and examiner of the British College of Physical Education. "The building itself I liked immensely, especially the corridors which are broad and give a spacious appearance. The school has a fine dining hall, drawing school, chemical and physical laboratories etc but the gymnasium was disappointing, being very low and difficult to ventilate which is such an extremely important thing. I understand that the school was built 30 years ago before physical education was recognised as so valuable a factor in life."
The competition for Parry Challenge Cup "consisted of marching, jumping, climbing and one exercise on the parallels." The winner for the second year running was Dorothy Hale, the second was Gladys Fogg and the third was Cissie McGully.
Rachel Teggin won first prize in the Remedial Class.
Annie Hallam won the Dixon Challenge Cup with Florence Wilkinson second.
Rebecca Marks was the leader of the team which won the team competition with Florence Wilkinson's team second.
Forty pupils from the school took part in a competition against Liverpool Training College which was judged by the author and Mr Waring. Manchester High School won. Congratulations to Miss Bourne.
