Founders' Day

The Gymnastic Competition
The senior competition was judged by Miss Tollemache of the London Physical Training College. The participants included Doris Welch, Rebecca Marks, Connie Dove, Alice Hallam, Daisy Vaughan, Carrie Morrison, Nellie Davies, Phyllis Spafford, May Erwine, Phyllis St Angelo.
Doris Welch was the Dixon Challenge Cup.
The Junior competition was judged by Miss Bourne and the girls were led by Miss Magnus. The cup was awarded to Dorothy Barrow and other prizes to Winifred Bedson and Ethel Watts.

The Literary Society
Because of the formation of the new Classical Society, there has only been one meeting of the Literary Society. At meetings extracts from the work of Lewis Carroll were read and acted. At a joint meeting with the Classical Society Prof Conway gave a talk on Virgil.

Description of the meetings held. Twenty six plum puddings made by the Cookery class were taken to the Eye Hospital. Items [details given] were taken to the District Nurses' Home, Plymouth Grove "to be distributed among the sick children." Girls who cannot stay to meetings could sew at home, materials will be provided.

"One of the chief features of the Society is the Virgil Reading Circle which meets every Thursday in the Seniors' Rooms." Everyone has to read some Virgil. Prof Conway gave a talk on Virgil. A group of members went to see the Roman excavations in Manchester and plan to go to Chester.
