The speech of the guest speaker, Sir William Mather is quoted verbatim. He stressed the importance of education and the important role which women have in society. He read part of a letter from Miss Burstall in Boston in which she drew parallels between England and America as symbolised by the sundial which stands in the quadrangle of Princetown University and which is the same as the one in Corpus Christi College, Oxford. She described some of the American schools she had visited.
In the afternoon many old girls visited the school.
