There are over 550 pupils in the school, "120 being in the Junior School though after this term no children under eight can enter."

Prof Tout was in the chair.

The guest speaker was Miss Sheavy who had experience in teaching English literature in universities in England and America. Her speech is recorded verbatim. She discussed the meaning of independence which, she had heard, was typical of people in northern England. Councillor Howell gave a vote of thanks.

Edith Thistlewood has gained a teaching post

Miss Burstall's book on American education has been published. She is now writing one on the history of the school and would welcome reminiscences.

Miss E L Brodmeier has married [description of the occasion given].

Madge Raper is acting in Shakespeare companies [details given].

Hilda Davies is also acting.

The school has received a copy of the magazine for the High School for Girls at Blomfontein of which Miss Steedman is the headmistress.

The Gymnastic Competitions

Lilian Blackstock won the Dixon Challenge Cup.

Olive Gimson won the Parry Challenge Cup.

Geoffrey Stenhouse won the under 11 competition.

Field Club

There have been talks [subjects given] by Dr Derbishire and Mr J J Phelps. Fifty girls from the Municipal Secondary School came to a meeting. Thanks to Miss Willis for organising a walk.

Basket Ball

"There has been great enthusiasm over Basket Ball this term. The matches played for Miss Willis' cup caused keen excitement during the dinner hours." It was won by IV Upper Remove.

Lilian Blackstock won the Fives prize.

At the Easter meeting a play was performed by the following:  Isa Hiles, Frances Steele, Jessie McNicol, Lois Bentz, Hilda Livesey, Dorothy Dearden, Alice Eccles.

A few members enjoyed a picnic. Some girls gave a performance of Comus. There have been lectures on First Aid and Home Nursing.

At the Christmas meeting a new committee was elected.
