Editorial

The numbers in the school have grown to such an extent that "the house across the road" has been acquired for girls doing secretarial work.

The Headmistress of Greenwich Girls' School visited the school to hear the girls sing.

The help given by Miss Bourne and others in teaching physical education classes under the Manchester and Salford Practical and Recreative Evening Classes scheme has been a great success.

Every alternate meeting, ie about once a month, the Society will do Golden Rule work.

A new field has been acquired belonging to the Manchester Athletic Club but it can only be used on Tuesday afternoons. Members of the IV form have started to play. The First Team includes E Findlay, S Lowe, E Spafford, M Fulton, W Bedson, D Hale, M Quayle, N Perry, D Barber.

 

G Hoffert [Tennis Captain]

Tennis

Results of matches played. Eileen Spafford and Agnes Higginbottom won the inter-form doubles. The school was defeated by Withington in the semi-final of the League tournament.

 

Margaret Bowman [Fives Captain]

Fives

More girls are playing but more support is needed. Miss Willis has given encouragement. Some new gloves have been bought. Annie Ellis won the Fives Prize and the Seniors won the Fives Vase.
