Editorial
Regret at the deaths in 1917 of Elizabeth Day, Miss Annie Adamson and Mrs Julia Byron Cooper.
It has been a "period of marked advance in the school. It has acquired new accommodation in an annex of three houses adjoining; its roll is now 650 and could be nearly 700: it is pressing in all directions on its equipment and resources for further development and opportunity. This need shows itself most in that fundamental element of education, physical training; the School must have a new gymnasium. Those who knew Miss Day best believe that her name should be permanently associated with such an addition to the school as would greatly increase its usefulness. The Governors cordially concur with this proposal and intend to erect as soon as possible an Elizabeth Day Memorial Gymnasium. A fund for this purpose has been opened."
