Editorial
The delay is printing this edition of the School Magazine is due partly to "the war difficulties of paper and printing" and partly to the increased workload in the school which has arisen from the increase in the number of pupils to over 700.
A new exam system, School Certificate and Higher Certificate, have been introduced the fees of which are paid by the Board of Education.
The Governors are planning an extension in Didsbury "where younger children could be received for lessons and playing fields and gardens be secured for the use of all the older pupils."
"Like other places of study, the school has been attacked three times in nine months by the prevailing epidemic but we have never had to close, the percentage of pupils suffering has not been large nor the illness in general severe."
Contributions to war funds continue with the Golden Rule Society supporting the District Nurses and other money going to Broughton House, the home for disabled soldiers and the Babies' Hospital. £11 was collected for Miss Burstall's birthday and given to Admiral Jellicoe for the British and Foreign Sailors' Society.
