Database : School Magazines, 1883 -1952

1923 April

Editorial

"Owing to the reduction in the price of printing and paper there will be two numbers of the Magazine issued during the year at half to usual cost; it is hoped that more girls will show their interest in the School by buying the Magazine."

Preparation for the gym display has been "particularly keen" as it will be held in the Whitworth Hall. The proceeds will go towards the new playing fields pavilion.

M Hargreaves, I Rowbottom and C Yates

Founders' Day Address

The address of the guest speaker Gerald Hurst, MP for Moss Side is given verbatim. He spoke of the ways in which the education at the school was different from the education for girls in the past and ways in which the education in the school was distinctive.

The Mayor, Mr E D Simon replied that the local and central education authorities did not intend to enforce "cast iron restrictions" on the school.
