The Jubilee
A special committee of governors, staff and old girls is making arrangements for the celebrations for the Jubilee of the school in January 1924. Founders' Day will be held in the Free Trade Hall and the guest speaker will be Dr William Temple the Bishop of Manchester. There will also be a party and, by special request of the local branch of the Headmistress' Association, a thanksgiving service at Manchester Cathedral similar to that which was held in 1922 for the schools of the GPDST.
Competitions have been organised to pay off the debt on the School Magazine. "We are anxious to improve the Magazine and make it popular and interesting: articles of a more humorous character are desired."
Speech Day
At Speech Day Mr Padmore spoken of the new playing fields, the coming Jubilee and the resignation of Miss Burstall.
Miss Burstall spoke of the history of the school and of the number of girls who went to university. She said that there was a danger that girls would forget the joy which can be obtained from things of the mind and she hoped that girls would not lose the spirit of adventure.
Dr Ernest Barker gave the guest address and spoke of "the function of women to foster pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness."

The London Society of the Manchester High School.
The London Society was formed on 2 June 1923 at the University of London Club. Primrose McNicol took the chair and the meeting was also attended by Bertha Ashton. The Society is independent of the Old Girls' Association but one of the Vice Presidents of the London Society will be an ex officio President of the Manchester Association. The second meeting [details given] was attended by Mrs Ernest Barker, [nee Emily Salkeld] and others. The next meeting will be held [details given] thanks to the kindness of Miss Harrison [nee Elsie Simon]. There are 100 members, many are involved in professional work and hold influential positions which will be of use to the Society.
