Miss Clarke has been elected President of the Lancashire, Cheshire and NW Derbyshire branch of the Association of Headmistresses.
Chapters in the Administrative History of England by Prof Tout
The book, Chapters in the Administrative History of England was published shortly after the death of Prof Tout, the author. It contains a preface by Mrs Tout and there are contributions [details given] by Margaret Sharp [nee Tout], Dorothy Broome and Hilda Johnstone.

School Pictures
The members of the School Picture Committee are the following: Miss Ritchie, Miss Watson, Marjorie Pear, Eva Johnstone, Nellie Bennett, Joan Jung, Brenda Besford.
In September 1927 work was begun on cataloguing and labelling the pictures in the school. This will be finished for the main pictures in the Spring. Details of additions to the collection including gifts from Mrs Young, Miss Clarke and Miss Willis. The Old Girls will give money to "continue the group" for the Board Room Corridor. There was an exhibition of foreign colour prints [details given] in the studio. Kathleen McLean [nee Hale] drew the school's attention to a company which provided them.

Speech Day
The guest speaker at Speech Day was the Mayor of Manchester. He described the opportunities for women in local government and stressed the importance of having hobbies. Miss Clarke stressed the importance of training and of leaving school after a period in the Sixth Form.
Tennis
"With much regret we have to say goodbye to the tennis courts at the club in Sherwood Street where we have played so happily for many years. The land has been sold for building purposes.....The Games Club has promised to pay for the making of grass courts at the playing fields in Birchfields Road."
Hockey
Money has been raised to level the last of the hockey pitches.

The Society has about 50 members. A meeting was held in the drawing room of Evelyn Lavelle [nee Garnett]. Her 3 children "shyly put in an appearance after tea." Among the guests was Caroline Coignou. Copies of Miss Burstall's portrait were on sale at 2 shillings. A meeting was held at the Midland Counties Dairy where Eileen Erskine is one of the research staff. Miss Burstall gave news of other old girls.

Miss Burstall is going to move from Derby to London next year and is buying a house in Fulham near Bishop's Park. The Colonial Office committee meets every month and she cannot easily travel from Derby.
