Grangethorpe
"It is about 9 months since the governors heard that the Grangethorpe site and buildings were on the market. This seemed an ideal site for the school as it was not too far for us to maintain our central position and yet was surrounded by trees and green fields. If we were to secure it for our future school immediate steps had to be taken and as there was no money of our own available the governors were compelled to seek a loan from the City Council for the purpose. The formalities connected with the purchase are in the course of completion and a debt of between £11,000 and £12,000 is incurred on which interest will, of course, have to be paid........ A fully representative appeal committee" is about to be formed and a Grangethorpe Fund has been opened.
