Description of Founders' Day including a verbatim account of the speech by Dr Garfield Williams, Dean of Manchester. The commented on the subversion of individuality cause by the media and by governments and stressed the importance of education in maintaining independence of thought. He commented that the word "mercy" was derived from the Hebrew word which means empathising with others because you do no know their circumstances.

Report on a lecture given by Miss Watson on her visit to Europe. The author commented that "We felt clearly the friendly curiosity of the Danes, the austere courtesy of the Swedes. We saw Stockholm, bright, open, clean and Amstredam, old, shut in and not so clean, Germany in a turmoil, Geneva wreathed in mist and Rome a bewildered conglomeration of antiquity and modernism, of Caesar and Mussolini."
