There has been a renewed interest in the Magazine and "our financial crisis should well be tidied over."

Thanks to Miss Lister for her appreciation of the life of Miss Jupe.

Miss Burstall was one of the 2 guests at the biennial lunch at Girton College.

The Bishop of Southwark and Mrs Parsons will be the guests on Speech Day.

Preparations are being made for the joint guide and cadet camp in the Cotswolds and a visit to Paris under Miss Tiano.

Miss Clarke gave evidence before the committee appointed by the Foreign Office for the admission of women to the consular and diplomatic services.

Edinburgh Ladies' College of which Miss Clarke was formally headmistress, has celebrated its 240th anniversary.

Founders' Day

Description of Founders' Day including a verbatim account of the speech by Dr Garfield Williams, Dean of Manchester. The commented on the subversion of individuality cause by the media and by governments and stressed the importance of education in maintaining independence of thought. He commented that the word "mercy" was derived from the Hebrew word which means empathising with others because you do no know their circumstances.

Miss Watson�s Lecture on her Experiences on the Continent

Report on a lecture given by Miss Watson on her visit to Europe. The author commented that "We felt clearly the friendly curiosity of the Danes, the austere courtesy of the Swedes. We saw Stockholm, bright, open, clean and Amstredam, old, shut in and not so clean, Germany in a turmoil, Geneva wreathed in mist and Rome a bewildered conglomeration of antiquity and modernism, of Caesar and Mussolini."

Federation Business Meeting

Ruth Rapaport was elected Report Editor and the possibility of a bi - annual Report was discussed. Miss Clarke spoke of the proposed memorial to Miss Jupe. Dr Burstall spoke of the support for the Federation from old girls overseas.
